"The four works on this CD demonstrate beyond question the vital role tonal music has to play in today’s culture and reflect the composer’s close association with some of the most talented and celebrated international artists, many of whom gave the world premieres of these works.
This selection of James Francis Brown’s exciting, visionary and emotionally rewarding chamber music is captured for the first time on this recording. This is a tour de force of contemporary virtuosity and lyrical intensity." Guild Web review

Special Projects

A Wagner discovery...

In 2006-7 James reconstructed and orchestrated Wagner's comic opera Männerlist grösser als Frauenlist (Men are more Cunning than Women) from sketches discovered in 1994. The completed work was premiered in October 2007 by the South Bank Sinfonia and Royal Opera House Chorus conducted by Stephen Barlow.

Read more about how James became involved in this project and about his experiences working on it.

Working in Film - The Clap!

In the autumn of 2004, James worked with Breakthru Films on the production of the short film 'The Clap'. Aside from compiling the soundtrack, he composed additional original material for several concert scenes - see The Clap and For He's a Jolly Good Fellow.
